Artemide Lighting — Italian Design Icons for Every Space
Founded in Milan in 1959, Artemide is behind some of the most iconic lamps ever made. The Tolomeo (De Lucchi, 1987) won the Compasso d'Oro, sold over seven million units and sits in MoMA's permanent collection. The Tizio (Sapper, 1972) conducts electricity through its counterbalanced arm — also in MoMA. The Nesso (1965) is in both MoMA and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The Gople and Alphabet of Light by BIG complete a catalogue of permanent design references.
